During the Victorian (Australia) Labor Party state conference in Melbourne, premier Daniel Andrews said “I’m sick of walking into meetings and seeing a room full of chicks sitting around the table.“
- He actually said “I’m sick of walking into meetings and seeing a room full of blokes sitting around the table.” Does this sound more acceptable to you? If so, why? (you may have some soul-searching to do)
- Regardless of which gender is dominant, does it warrant using disparaging language?
- I sincerely doubt that he would say “I’m sick of seeing all these sheilas sitting around the table whenever I walk into education or social services meetings” where you actually will find the majority are women.
